Penny and the Wickedly Smart Galentine’s
Penny Stockton was always up for a party, but this year’s Galentine’s was special. She’d decided to host a Wicked-themed soirée, inspired by the emerald and pink hues of Glinda and Elphaba.
“Let’s make it magical, but not break the bank,” Penny said to her roommate, Julie, as they brainstormed ideas.
With her Halloween and New Year’s decorations tucked away in storage, Penny knew she could reuse plenty of items to set the scene. A quick trip to the dollar store yielded some green and pink party accents, from tablecloths to streamers.
But as she envisioned the setting, Penny realized the room needed a little extra sparkle. “Green and pink lighting would take it to the next level,” she mused. Checking her budget, though, she knew it wasn’t happening.
An idea struck her. She grabbed her phone and texted Cash Pyle. Do you have green or pink lights I could borrow? Planning a Wicked-themed Galentine’s!
Within minutes, Cash replied: I’ve got LED lights that should work. Want me to help set them up?
Penny grinned at the offer. Cash was a whiz with tech, and having him handle the lights would be a big help. “You’re a lifesaver,” she texted back. “Come over the morning of the party. Payment will be in cupcakes and cookies.”
The day of the event, Cash arrived with his LED lights and got to work. Penny and Julie, meanwhile, transformed the space with the decorations they’d gathered. Julie crafted a few Wicked-themed signs and added glittery touches with her trusty glue gun.
By the time the guests arrived, the room glowed in enchanting green and pink hues. Penny’s spread of snacks, including cupcakes with themed toppers and Wicked green punch, was a hit.
Cash grabbed a cupcake and took in the scene. “Looks like a Broadway set in here,” he said with a grin.
Penny laughed. “All thanks to teamwork and smart planning. Now, go grab a cookie—you’ve earned it!”
The party was a success, proving once again that a little creativity (and borrowing from friends) could turn any budget into a showstopper.
